First Presbyterian Church of Cullman, Alabama was formally organized on May 23, 1954 with 28 charter members. Plans for a new church building began in 1956, and on December 22, 1957, the church held its first service in its new worship space. Renovations and improvements continued throughout the years, and in 2006, extensive renovations to the church’s structure were made in order to enhance the building’s overall functionality.

Throughout the years, and even as times and society have changed, the congregation of First Presbyterian Church has sought to be faithful servants of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And in 2022, as we celebrate our 68th year of ministry in Cullman County, we continue to be faithful in the ways we serve both God and neighbor as our understanding of each evolves and deepens.
Worship With Us
Each week we celebrate the Lord’s Day with a traditional worship service at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings. In addition to our regular Sunday services, we also have special services throughout the year.
MEET our pastor:

Reverend David Palmer
Pastor
Reverend David Palmer, David was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. After being kicked out of an un-named church for “crying too much in the nursery,” he and his family began attending the local Presbyterian Church. Feeling better about his predestined surroundings, David began to flourish in the Presbyterian faith. He was confirmed in middle school, served on his presbytery’s youth council in high school, was elected a Ruling Elder while in college, and then felt a call into ordained ministry after working as a camp counselor. Upon graduating from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, David and his wife Robin moved back to Alabama where he has served several pastorates.

David and his wife Robin (an ordained Presbyterian minister as well), live in Huntsville as recent empty nesters and have two daughters at Auburn University. David enjoys fishing with his black lab Millie, exploring rural America with his family, and carving waterfowl decoys on the side. David has been serving First Presbyterian Church in Cullman since 2015 and loves the sense of “family” that is felt here. David is excited about the possibilities for ministry that abound for small congregations, and he loves watching the Holy Spirit work in the lives of all of God’s children!
